Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
I am using Ubuntu 10.10 with all current updates. The version of gnome-power-manager I currently have installed is 2.32.0-0ubuntu1. I expected to be able to utilize all 11 brightness levels (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100%) that my back-light controller supports. Instead I can only set the brightness level in increments of 20% (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%). This bug is not present during boot-up, within GDM, or on tty1 through tty6. This bug is only present after login, after gnome-power-manager has started up.

If you run 'killall gnome-power- manager' , do the brightness keys then adjust by single increments?
