unclear maverick update instructions

According to the blog:

"[U-Boot] is therefore shipped as part of the Maverick installer. We recommend everyone simply update to Maverick."

Does this mean that there is no need to update U-boot previously (in a manual and separated step) ?

When I tried to run the Maverick installer, it did not boot because I had an old U-boot. Thus, clarifying the blog post/PDF instructions would be nice to have for newcomers, such as:

1) xz -dc uboot_image | dd of=/dev/yourdevice.
2) Boot the Efika with that SD & poweroff.
3) xz -dc maverick | dd of=/dev/yourdevice (overwriting the previous U-boot image).
4) Boot with the previous SD card.

Stating "simply update to Maverick" seems to imply: "ignore the U-boot update step", which in my experience is crucial to get running.

There is documentation on the same page. A U-Boot updater and the instructions have just been updated (Dec 30th 2010)

Same page of PowerDeveloper you downloaded the SD card images from, I mean :)

I can see that the U-boot filesize has changed but both PDF's (documentation) are "old": 2010-03-30 & 2010-12-07.

OTOH, what has changed in U-Boot ? Cannot see any recent changelog/commits in gitorious :-S

"Efika MX Linux Installer.pdf" was updated less than 3 hours ago.

We don't keep U-Boot in gitorious for various reasons. I have been trying to remove that repo for a long while.

We are pushing (with the help of Marek Vasut) to mainline so we can have a 2011 U-Boot with modern MX5x support, so whatever tree we have here and binaries you have on PD are not really relevant to development. You will not find many places to fix bugs. If you need the source code or want to help, please mail me personally (or Marek) to help.
