IBM T40 ati radeon mobility 7500 boots to purple splotch and cursor with CD Live.
Was able to get running by Ctrl-Alt-F1, sudo service gdm stop, sudo service gdm start
Then right click create a launcher with gnome-terminal
In gnome terminal do gnome-panel &

Noticed the crash and submitted report, this bug looks like the same. Compiz is trying to do something that doesn't work on the mobility 7500. This has been happening with every day's CD live since Alpha 1.

Compiz works quite well here with my Mobility 7500 (like in previous releases), it is the Unity part, when activated, that doesn't work well.
