Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

While upgrading my Ubuntu from 6.06 to 6.10 using "update-manager -c", I got this error:

Could not install the upgrades
The upgrade will now abort. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery was attempted (dpkg --configure -a).
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.

I have the log files inside a tar.bz2 archive, and I'd like to send them for further explanation.

I am using Ubuntu on an AMD 64.

This could be the same problem as reported in bug: #54234

Is this still an issue. It looks like the pycentral issue that everyone had problems with but has been fixed since than.

Installed 7.04 and updated 488 packages yesterday fine. Today the 25 updates gave this errors dialog:

Could not install the upgrades

The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery was run (dpkg --configure -a).

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.

@Rob Byrd: thanks for this additional information. Can you please file a new bugreport for this (as it is a different issue from the original report here. Can you please also attach (as files) the content of /var/log/dist-upgrade/* ?

Thanks,
 Michael
