Bug Description

Binary package hint: kubuntu-default-settings

For reasons unknown, kubuntu-default-settings is set to hide pretty much the entire system except home dir and /media from the user by default.

There appears to be no option to disable this unwanted behaviour anywhere, nor is any information given to the user about this "feature" at all. This setting is highly annoying, and serves no real world purpose since a normal user cannot destroy the system in linux (unlike in windoze from where this seems to be copied).

The only way I've found so far to get a clean view of my system is to (re)move /etc/kubuntu-default-settings/hidden-root, requiring the user to make changes to the system with root access (which, in contrast, could result in serious damage!).
