Bug Description

Hi.
My attempt to make my PCMCIA-WLAN-Card usable with Edgy failed. Since it worked Out-Of-The-Box when plugging it into the laptop with Dapper, i am a bit sad about this step backwards.
I am talking about the following device (lspci output):
"Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)".

It'd be fine to have this fixed since i do not want to miss my wireless lan with edgy.

//edit: I might add the products name.
D-Link AirPlus XtremeG
2.4GHz High-Speed
Wireless Cardbus Adapter
DWL-G650

//edit2: another comment.
The most confusing thing is, that it works with an edgy live session from the desktop cd. But after having installed it through the alternate installer it doesn't work.

yours sincerly,
Christopher Denter :)

Could you try installing the package linux-restricted-modules with adept?

Since it is not installed by default, I had the same problem. Additionally the wlan cards do not automatically connect on kubuntu (see bug https://launchpad.net/bugs/64841)

Hi Peter.
Thank you very much for your hint. Now all works fine. But i am still wondering why it worked out of the box with dapper (and edgy-live) without having installed these packages. Strange thing.

Since it is not that hard to install these packages every time you set up a new edgy-client i think this may be marked as 'solved'.

regards
