Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

According to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver , the Radeon HD 5670 should have accelerated 3D support.

Mine is using software rendering on both Maverick and the latest Natty. If it makes any difference the computer is a new iMac (2nd of the 4 standard configurations).

Thank you for your help,
Chris

Hi Robert,

I see you recently updated xserver-xorg-video-ati to version 6.13.99 in your xorg-edgers ppa. I added the ppa and I now got hardware rendering. I hope 6.13.99 or newer will make it to the final release of 11.04.

Unfortunately I can't mark this bug as solved, maybe an admin can.

Thank you for your help,
Chris

Thanks for checking if things work okay with the PPA, we want to keep this open because the fix isn't in Ubuntu yet. The fix will definitely be in there by natty's release, it's just a matter of finding out if there are any official plans for a release soon or if we need to pull in a git snapshot of the development code to do it in the interim.

I'd be okay with us shipping 6.13.99 even if the release doesn't make it in time. -ati tends to be quite stable compared with other video drivers, so I think it may be worth the risk.

While it's called 6.13.2, it's a recent git snapshot of what will be 6.13.99 which includes the fix for this bug.
