Bug Description

I'm getting a crash when trying to play any file. This started happening when I was importing music from my iPod into Banshee and banshee crashed (a different bug which I will report if I can reproduce it).

For some reason the crash reporter doesn't pick up this crash, but I got the following from a terminal.

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
  at Banshee.Plugins.Podcast.PodcastCore.OnPlayerEngineStateChanged (System.Object sender, Banshee.MediaEngine.PlayerEngineStateArgs args) [0x00000]

If I'm reading the trace correctly, this crash is caused by the podcast plugin (correct me if I'm wrong). I tried disabling that plugin, but banshee crashes when I try (see attached).

Also, I don't think this had anything to do with the failed import from my iPod. I don't think I've used this version of Banshee before today (0.11.1-0ubuntu2), so this crash would probably have happened anyway.

This is definitely podcast related; I just disabled the podcast plugin with gconf-editor and banshee no longer crashes when trying to play songs.

Here's the dump from the crash that was automatically produced. Was not even touching PC. Just was letting Banshee play some mp3's and it just crashed.

I have this problem in Gutsy now.

I load Banshee and it immediately displays the error shown in the attachment.

The music continues to play during the time the crash dialog is open. Will attempt to get a crash log from terminal.

Adam, your bug looks like http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400869. Chris, your bug looks different, more like http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=512857. This shouldn't be a problem anymore, closing. But feel free to reopen if you find the same issue with the Podcasts plugin.
