Does eth0 come up properly and do you get a DHCP response if you run the following command directly from a Terminal:

sudo dhclient eth0

Yes, if I run dhclient, I can bring up ethernet correctly.
Now the problem is solved by some up- and downgrading. I'm not exactly sure how, here is some dpkg output from the fixed system.
