Bug Description
Steps to reproduce problem:
1) Set up via unichrome graphics using dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
2) Move ~/.wine directory to avoid any experimental contamination
3) Download and unpack notepad 2 from http://
4) unzip notepad2.zip
5) sync (write changes to file system as it will crash!)
6) wine Notepad2.exe
Error message: LibGL Warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x46
System completely freezes. Any unsaved information on other running programs is lost. Potential file system corruption and data loss. This bug should therefore be marked high priority.
Steps to avoid problem on same system:
1) Insert savage graphics card (disabling VIA unichrome)
2) run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg with all same settings except savage instead of Via
3) wine Notepad2.exe
Error message: libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
Notepad 2 runs normally.
Attached: example xorg.conf file for VIA.
Chip Type: integrated VIA Unichrome on KM400 VIA motherboard chipset.
Given the problem precisely tracks the graphics card/driver, it appears there is a bug in the interface between wine and the VIA xorg driver. Wine worked perfectly on the same system under dapper.
The following provides a workaround: 9.9-0ubuntu2_ i386.deb (reverting to dapper package)
dpkg -i wine_0.
