pidgin freeze when inserting a URL in the chat window

Step to reproduced:

* Double click a buddy and right click the mouse on the place used to type messaeg, select Paste and the URL is pasted into (I can see it). now pidgin freeze.

The URL is: http://www.seek.com.au/JobSearch?DateRange=31&Keywords=kitchen+hand&location=1004&industry=1212&SearchFrom=quickupper&SearchType=search+again

It also happen if I typed it in - it is ok until the charrater SearchF and pdigin freeze as well

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Do you get the same with Maverick? Thanks in advance.

Problem is still the same for my 10.04 up-to-date system - have not a chance to test on 10.10 as I do not plan to upgrade. Strange that nobody cared to give feedback, reproduced the test or even escalate to the pidgin team so I thought it might be my graphics card problem with this or kind of specific to me - Or Ubuntu team regards this as lowest priority !

Same thing happens for me from time to time, 10.4LTS, up to date.

I've pasted far longer urls without problems, so it makes me think there's something about certain urls that's breaking pidgin, not the length of the string.
