Bug Description
Now this may sound strange, coming from a power user, but I honestly failed to find the settings without reading a blog post that mentioned that the tiny dot should be clicked.
How about using a small version of the Elementary gear? It would be visibly "something" and be familiar to users of other Elementary style interfaces.

You are not the first telling me this, but the UI needs a small button menu (non-intrusive), so I think that this button works well.
Any way, we need to tell people that there is a menu there.
We'll create a website with some HowTo to help people use and contribute Synapse.
Btw, we tried to use some gear icon, but it doesn't fit well in that size.
Also, in the next version, there'll be an Indicator applet for Synapse,
so you can easy open the settings window.
