Cannot easily remove typed text

Bug Description

If I type some text in Synapse and then I want to search for something completely different which involves deleting all the text and typing some new text, I have to press the backspace key lots of times to delete the text. Why can't I just select all the text (mouse selection or "Ctrl + a") so it can be easily deleted?

Why not just press "Esc" ? =)

But what if I want to remove half the text? Why can't it be selectable? :)

This bug is not invalid because what I say does occur. You can choose not to fix it, but it's not invalid...

Here is another test case: what if there's a typo in the text I enter? If the text would be editable, I could easily change it, but in the current Syanpse state I have to remove all the text and type it again.

Ideally, Synapse should spot the typos and still figure what I want to do, but even in that case allowing the text to be editable/selectable would be nice.

I marked it as Invalid because the first sentence was:
"involves deleting all the text and typing some new text,
I have to press the backspace key lots of times to delete the text"

And there is already a key to do that.

About the new bug description, I don't think that I'll fix this,
for example, take the word "ubuntu":
Type "ubin" now, you made a typo, so you can fix that in two way:
1° (standard way) -> backspace, backspace, u, n t, u = 6 keys
2° (your way) -> left, backspace, u, right, t, u = 6 keys

There's no big advantage in this.
Btw I agree with you that Synapse should spot typos.
(but it's difficult to do, and it requires more time to search)

For now I mark this as won't fix.

The text also cannot be selectable because a query like "awn" can (and will) return items like "Avant Window Navigator". Same goes for "groups users" matching "Users and Groups". How do you want to select the text there?
