Dock and panel disappear when starting the live cd environment

Bug Description

RELEASE: Natty Narwhal Alpha1 pre-release
CD/DVD VARIANT: 32bit Ubuntu Desktop CD
ISO BUILD: 20101201.1

SYMPTOMS: After burning the image to dvd, I started the computer with it in the drive. When the screen comes up asking to Try or install, I choose "Try Ubuntu". When the live desktop is drawn, the panel and dock disappear within second.

CAUSE:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

    Step 1 Download http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/natty-desktop-i386.iso
    Step 2 burn the image to a dvd, since it is oversize
    Step 3 start the system with the dvd
    Step 4 choose "Try Ubuntu"
    Step 5 Observe the dock and panel disappear

Can you please use rather "ubuntu-bug unity" to report this issue? (or let apport catch the crash as described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UnityFilingBugs ?)

We can't easily exploit the crash file this way or we don't have your hardware info, which is what is needed and automatically triggered by ubuntu-bug unity.

If I could have used Ctrl+Alt+t to open a terminal, or anything on the desktop, I could have used apport. Unfortunately, when all that works is a tty or ssh, apport fails to file the report. The good news is this seems to have been fixed along with bug 682345.

As the original reporter, I am closing this bug report. It appears to have been fixed and I can not reproduce this issue in the latest daily images.
