Bug Description

I've been using Cortina for a while without problems, but last night when I logged in I got a Gnome related error, to be honest I didn't read it carefully, and somehow it ended up removing the Cortina tray icon.

I reinstalled Cortina, but the icon is still missing. Cortina is running but since the icon is missing I'm not able to open the GUI so I can't add or remove wallpapers or change the settings.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Edition and Cortina 0.6.4. It's important to mention that this issue only happens on Gnome; on a Netbook Edition session the icon is there.

I don't think that this is a problem of Cortina. This sounds like a Ubuntu/Gnome related problem. You should find what you did before that issue occurs. Or Maybe you need to reinstall Ubuntu or only Gnome to fix that.

Please start Cortina within the shell, then you should get some debug informations.

Thank you for the feedback, how can I get the debug information? I just ran the cortina command on the shell (/usr/bin/cortina) but I didn't get any debug info... Is there a special parameter or another way to start Cortina from the shell?

Thats really strange, I remember now that I didn't seen the Pidgin icon in my tray for a while although it is running. I just have a empty box down there :/ seems to be another problem.

Yes It's weird, seems to be a Gnome issue, I also noticed the network tray icon is missing... But is there another way to open the GUI? or how can I get the debug information? Thank you again for your help!

Isn't there at least an transparent box?

And I forgot to say that only with something went wrong you see any debug information in the console.

Thanks for the quick response; there isn't a transparent icon, it just disappeared without a trace :p

So all points out to be a Gnome issue, I'll have to find out how to fix it, anyway thanks again for your support and congrats for doing such a neat app :)

I'm currently working on a different method to create a tray icon, this might fix your problem ;-)
