Empathy resizes window beyond screen bounds during IRC text entry (should wrap/scroll input instead)

In Empathy IRC mode, when a message is entered that is longer than can be displayed in the current window width, the window is expanded. This continues to be repeated until the window has expanded beyond the edge of the screen and the user can no longer see what they are typing, or half of the Empathy IRC window.

Ideally the IRC text entry box should be wrapped (or scrolled) when long lines are entered, rather than being allowed to resize the parent window beyond the bounds of the screen.

Please could you attach before/during/after screenshots of the window size expanding excessively, and ultimately past the edge of the screen.

I also noticed while I was taking those screenshots that the window was first extending across to the left hand side of the screen, before it ran out of room and began pushing off the right side.

It might well be as simple as tweaking the Gtk+ EXPAND/FILL flags on the text entry so that the parent doesn't get resized.
