Bug Description

Hi,

I don't know exactly if this is a bug or a feature.

The color background is only visible, when the application is running. In normal case, when the app isn't running, only the frame is visible. And I think this is a little ugly.
When an application have two or more windows, there are little dots on the bottom of the color background.
I think it would be better, when the color background is always visible, and when an app is running, show one or more dots (depend on the number of the windows).

Sorry for the bad english!

Thanks for reporting this bug and help to make ubuntu better.

Right, this behavior is on purpose. I'll then mark the bug as invalid.
I think if you want to discuss about it with the wider community, you should post your comment on the ayatana mailing list which is done for discussing ideas and design on ubuntu, and such, on unity.
(http://unity.ubuntu.com/getinvolved/#design, the link should direct you to https://launchpad.net/~ayatana).

Do not hesitate to report further issues :)

 status confirmed
 importance high

This is not the desired behaviour. We have the running indicator on the
left of the launcher to show that the icon is running. Unity should
colour all icons, running or not.

Oddly, this did seem like an intended design. :-)

It was and is *much* easier to find running/inactive applications than an indicator which was just 10px wide.

maybe having it as an "option" would be nice, of course default would be to colour the icons.

a "no colour" option, or "choose your own color" might be nice for some icon themes.

But i dont expect these "theming options" to hit on this release, but would be nice for the next.
