Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

This may be a bug in Nautilus
See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10159042

Twice already, the desktop has switched to showing this behavior:

The desktop does not show any files or folders. When I try to drag a file there from Nautilus the "drop" of drag-and-drop fails.

It is not accepting any input -- e.g., if I right click it, I get no context menu.

Yet the ~/Desktop folder appears fine in Nautilus; there are some files and folders there; and I can move new ones there.

I ran gconf-editor /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop

The checkbox was checked, i.e. value true. I unchecked it; then rechecked it. The problem went away.

The problem occurred twice. I don't know what caused it.\

The problem occurred several times. I could not identify any specific steps which would lead to it. However, it has not occurred in the last few weeks, so this bug can be closed or put on hold until other reports are received.
