Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

System: Sony Vaio VGN-A230P
OS: Ubuntu 10.10 i686

The Alt (both right and left) and Fn keys were working correctly in Ubuntu 10.04 i686 and previous versions but after upgrading to 10.10 i686, the keys do not work.

Since the upgrade had broken the keys, I tried doing a full reinstall (destroying the original partitions as well) but once completed, the system still does not recognize the keys.

I've also tried xev and it does recognize the key's I've tried except for Alt and Fn. I don't see much else to do other than changing the keymaps. I've tried 101, 104 and 105

Unless somebody has something to try by 11/26, I'll reinstall 10.04 and also try a live cd

Hey Jason,

Hi, have you had a chance to test if this bug is still present in natty?

If it does (and if you're the original reporter), please boot into natty
and run the command:

  apport-collect <bug-number>

which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting
natty. (It is best to run this right after reproducing the problem.)

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
