Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub2

Grub failed to update when auto updating kernel to 32-26. Grub only offers boot option to 32-25 so cannot select latest kernel.

Believe all contained in apport.

System Sony Vaio VGN-NR11S/S Dual Core -Distro WUBI in msVista (dual boot with Ubuntu 10.10 which updated successfully).

Additional to above, tried to run 'update-grub2'. This returned:

Generating grub.cfg ...
/etc/grub.d/00_header: 139: Bad substitution

Problem solved.

Whilst in Lucid, completely uninstalled then reinstalled grub2 whence 2.6.32.26-generic is now recognised.

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
