That "I/O error" is coming from the kernel; run dmesg(8) and see if the
kernel has logged any message about it. It works fine for me, but I have a
USB writer and use DVD+RW rather than DVD-R.

I test it an other time, same behavior, no kernel log... but the close
hack doesn't work anymore and I can't do anything with my DVD (-RW this
time).

No time to test, maybe during the end of this week (I have to test with
2.6's ide-scsi and with 2.4).

Severity downgraded : it works for others than me.

Either it was dvd+rw-tools version : 5.19.4.9.7-2 or, as stated by Matt,
was it my kernel : 2.6.6-mm4-usagi. Anyway, I just burn some DVD-RW and DVD-R
without any problem.

Version: 5.21.4.10.8-1
Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-rc2

Thanks for the good works and sorry to be late in testing that again.
