inkscape on maverick 10.10 badly redraws/updates screen and looks horrible

Bug Description
Binary package hint: inkscape
1. Start inkscape
2. It will wrongly update the screen, like if the GUI is not refreshed. Move window around to see how the ruler on top of screen is leaving black marks everywhere because window is not redrawn.
Seen on 3 out of 3 tested computers, all with ubuntu 10.10.
On 1 of 3 boxes after maxization it takes "forever" (30 sec+) to draw the window making inscape totally unusable.
Inkscape is only good vector drawing program for ubuntu!
Please mark bug as high prio.
