rescue mode fails

Bug Description

amd64/20061024.1/alternate: rescue mode is attempted to be started, but fails, and a red error dialog appears. I attach syslog.

works fine on powerpc/20061024.1/alternate (apart from bug 60423)

My fault, there indeed were no partitions.
