I have attempted to recreate this bug by launching software-center from a terminal session and closing it via file>close. I was unable to reproduce the issue you have reported and I also am running Ubuntu 10.10. Please answer these questions:
* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
* Please attempt to reproduce this issue while software-center is launched from a terminal session so you can capture any messages output into the terminal. Please paste the results here.
This will help us to find and resolve the problem.
