Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

Synaptic was open and downloading updates while I was trying different "controls" themes for gnome. This caused synaptic to crash without a single error message and a firefox window to open in it's place.

I have version 0.62.1ubuntu10

When I change theme (in System > Preferences > Appearance) to one that I've downloaded, all my applications inherit the new theme, except Synaptic, which reverts to a very bland grey theme.

When I revert to a theme that was part of my original set-up, Synaptic inherits that theme happily.

I presume that this problem is related to the original bug reported here, so I thought it best to add to this one instead of starting a new one.

OOPS! Sorry, my last post turns out not to be a bug but the default behaviour of Ubuntu that new themes adopted by the user are not inherited by applications run by root.

It's a pretty daft default behaviour, but oh well.
