Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Hello all,

I have Vortexbox running on a server here and in Vortexbox they use minidlna to share stuff over the network. Now the problem is that my Rhythmbox can't see any files on the server. Under Shared it just shows text "VortexBox media server" but once I select it I can't see any files.

The server seems to be ok as I am able to access the files from Totem by using UPNP Coherence DLNA/UPnP Client plugin.

It's Ubuntu 10.10 and it's up to date. The packages affected are rhythmbox-plugin-coherence 0.13.1-0ubuntu6 and rhythmbox 0.13.1-0ubuntu6.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

Dear Pedro,

Good that you reminded me but unfortunately it looks even worse now on Natty. When I enable the plugin it doesn't find the server at all. Still Totem works as great as before and even my new Android phone finds the server (although it isn't able to play the FLAC files but that's a Motorola issue, I think).

Another thing that came up is that the plugin info says that it's able to share stuff also but neither Totem or the Android are able to see the Rhythmbox server (the see only the Vortexbox).

I'll attach here all lines I get when I start Rhythmox from the command line.
