Bug Description

Binary package hint: adobe-flashplugin

I had to rewrite this report because my Browser was not sending referer header, that was pretty annoying.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, and watching videos on any flash player and then trying to go full screen will cause the screen to go nuts.

The image gets _really_ distorted rendering the system unusable.

I don't think the issue is related to Xorg because the ttys are affected as well by the distortion.

To be able to use the computer again an hard reboot is needed either by blindly typing `sudo reboot` in the tty or more simply by unplugging the computer.

The issue appears as soon the proprietary ATI drivers are installed using the Ubuntu Additional Drivers application. Going in full screen with the native (non proprietary) drivers causes strange blocks to appear sporadically on the video, without fatal crash though.

I'm attaching the video card and kernel information to the bug.

I've this problem too. I'm using a Nvidia graphic card with the proprietary drivers. More details in the attachment.

I remove the package adobe-flashplugin and install apt://flashplugin-installer instead and the problem is solved.

Changed in adobe-flashplugin (Ubuntu):

Sorry, the package flashplugin-installer worked one time but I have still the problem (notably with youtube)

To reboot my computer, I have to use the Magic SysRq Keys (see links [1], [2] and [3]) : Alt + Syst + S --> E --> I --> U --> B. I tried to use the TTYs with Ctrl + Alt + F1 (and others), but nothing changes in the display and the sound of the flash video still play in background.

I tried the full screen mode on several websites (see links [4], [5] and [6]) and the only one which doesn't work is Youtube. For this one, I had to right click on the video, then to select the parameters. In the parameters window (in the display tab) I unchecked the box "Enable hardware rendering" (French : j'ai décoché la case "Activer l'accélération matérielle").

I didn't try to deactivate the proprietary drivers, but if it works it would be a more global solution.

It seems to be related to some script crashing in the background. A few seconds after the video stalling in full screen, if you alt+tab you can see a "A script has stopped" dialog from Firefox.
