Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

When a file is being saved, be it through File > Save or Ctrl+S, a saving message shows up in the status bar. It presents the following sentence:

Saving file \"/path/to/file\"...

I believe the filepath was supposed to be enclosed in just quotation marks, but for some purpose the backslashes appeared. Maybe the escape character to allow quotation marks within strings was doubled?

Release: gedit 2.30.3 on Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I've just tested against this defect on gedit 2.30.4 and apparently the bug has been corrected. Thanks for your collaboration and patience anyway!
