Bug Description

Binary package hint: libfile-changenotify-perl

This bug report is for libfile-changenotify-perl version 0.12-1 in Lucid Lynx.

Expected: The module File::ChangeNotify::Watcher::Inotify, which is provided by /usr/share/perl5/File/ChangeNotify/Watcher/Inotify.pm from package libfile-changenotify-perl, should load.

Instead: Using the module does not work. File::ChangeNotify::Watcher::Inotify requires Linux::Inotify2 version 1.2 or higher, while liblinux-inotify2-perl only provides version 1.1. Furthermore (and possibly this should be a separate bug report) the libfile-changenotify-perl package does not depend on the liblinux-inotify2-perl package.

Example: Running `perl -MFile::ChangeNotify::Watcher::Inotify -e 1` in the console should work (silently); instead, we get the usual "BEGIN failed--compilation aborted" message.

This bug is especially noteworthy because it will cause Catalyst projects to fail horribly when trying to start the built-in webserver, for the same reasons.

This has been fixed in a later release: since version 0.13-1 recommends liblinux-inotify2-perl.
