Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

If I scroll through a video with mouse wheel and then pause the video, it jumps to a random position and if I hit play it will continue from that position.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open video in totem
2) scroll forwards and backwards with mouse wheel
3) pause

Expected result: video continues to play from where it was paused

Actual result: sometimes video continues to play from a random position, usually plus or minus several seconds from where it was stopped.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

Yes, I still can reproduce this problem with totem installed in latest Ubuntu 11.04. Although, it seems to be the same Totem Movie Player 2.32.0, using GStreamer 0.10.32. It appears rarely, but usually the algorithm is this:

1) Use mouse scroll wheel to scroll video forward.
2) Let it play for several seconds
3) Pause video with either space bar, pause button, or mouse scroll button. Note current time.
4) Start playback

in about 1 out 5 cases playback will continue after about a minute from the pause point.

sorry if my previous explanation was unclear.

I can confirm that this bug affects me in 12.04, but instead of jumping to another position after pressing the spacebar, Totem continues from the position I paused.
