I have tried on Debian x86_64 and I don't reproduced this bug.

Currently, I'm moving and I have no time to work on the subject. Branch or wait, sorry.

I have about the same problem, confirmed it as its also about Valide 0.7.1.

Installed Valide a few days ago on Fedora 14 x86_64, installed all dependencies as well.
When I open it, all is fine, and I can create a new Project without any problems.
When I try to open a file though, it crashes instantly with abrt reporting "Process /usr/bin/valide was killed by signal 6 (SIGABRT)".

I've double checked the package dependencies, all are installed and up to date.
I've tried to open 2 files at once, and for some strange reason it did stay alive then for about 30 seconds before getting killed again.
