Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

The problem is in Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10. It works in 9.04 (I don't know in 9.10)

Steps:
1.- Login as user Alice
2.- I want to login as Bob without closing Alice's session:
   A) Using the "change user" option in the panel.
   B) Pressing Ctrl + Alt + F1
3.- System freezes. I can't do anything (I tried REISUB, Alt +F4, Ctrl + Alt + Fx). I have to press reboot button.

I have the problem in two different computers with new installations.

In my nephew's computer I installed 10.10 from CD deleting the old 9.04 (removing all hiding directories/files from /home/user). In 9.04 she could change user. The only new software installed is google chrome.

In my personal computer (pentium 4 2.8 Ghz, 1.5 GB Ram, gigabyte ati radeon 9250 with defaut ubuntu video driver) when I login after this error the .xsession-errors.log is:

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.
