Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Printing a pdf file produces garbled printing of letters after a few printouts.

This happens when printing to my real printer (Lexmark x215 laser printer) and when printing to pdf file. It does NOT happen when printing to ps file. I suspect here, that same method is used for printing to pdf file and to my printer.

I cannot give the fully exact procedure for triggering this bug. It seems to happens after a few prints of the same document, probably connected to printing only selected pages.

This must be a bug in evince or related libraries, or in gnome handling of document printing, as cups is not used when printing to pdf file.

Please fix this!

I seldomly print, and everytime something else is broken :( .. I'm really tired of wasting paper, bug tracing every time I try to print..

Workaround: Print first to .ps file, then print the .ps file on real printer.

Regards
Sven

Thank you for your bug report. Your problem looks very similar to bug 661724. For this bug, there is already a fix under way, you can test it by enabling the „proposed“ updates (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed). Could you please try whether this update also solves your issue?

Yes, confirm this very likely is a duplicate of Bug #661724. Adding Maverick-proposed and updating to libcairo2 1.10.0-1ubuntu3 seems to fix this issue for me.

Instructions on adding the Maverick-proposed repository can be found here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed

Thx for the quick answer!
