Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-nettool

Using a Ubuntu 10.10, is not possible to ping any network address from any network or computer; since in Ubuntu 10.04 it was.

It was tested with two different computers in two different networks; and one of those networks haven't got for sure any firewall or filtering rule, and was possible to ping network addresses using web-pages or the terminal.

The bug just appeared after updating to Ubuntu 10.10; and in one computer was done using the update manager and in the other with the Ubuntu 10.10 compact disk, by formatting the hole computer before in the second case.

Yes, it does. So finally this is not related with "Uncomplicated Firewall" (ufw).

Network tools - PING
The ping tool is not working inside the network tools.
Command line works fine.

I've already check the interface (ethernet) Eth0 and works fine.

Noted other connection problems, perhaps related to this bug. They are:

- pingtest.net cannot be performed; but OpenJDK, which is required, is installed.

- Certificates form accv.es cannot be upgraded using its java applet.

- Sometimes Gmail folders cannot be upgraded properly by Evolution, even after reading "http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=es&ctx=mail&answer=75726" or using Evolution default configuration.

summary: - Cannot ping any network adress
+ Cannot ping any network address
