Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
When I try to start a chat with a contact, the chat window does not appear at all.
This happened on my last install of Ubuntu (10.10 upgraded from 9.04) and I couldn't find a solution so I did a clean install of Ubuntu 10.10.
The chat client worked when i first started using it but now the chat windows simply dont show up.

Ok. I think I have found the reason for this.
I have my laptop to boot and then bypass login so it goes straight to desktop. When the desktop is reached, it asks me for a keyring password and I put it in there. I have it set to remember the password until I logout.
I'm not sure what the connection between this and the empathy bug is, but after a considerable amount of time or after a system suspension the client will not open chat windows. I restarted my computer and this problem no longer persists. I would like to know the answer to why empathy does this as the problem persists.
