Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

The issue is reported by a few users in the ubuntu forums in the thread "Custom keyboard map is causing issue with stuck keys"
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10100583#post10100583). It seems that the AltGr layer can get stuck in either an "always-on" or "never-works" mode. I experience the latter problem, so for example, given the assignment

keycode 39 = o O Left

I would expect Mode_switch+o to result in Left, but instead it results in o.

I've experienced the same results under Gnome and under Ratpoison in Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10.

Hmm, not an xkeyboard-config problem, maybe more of an -evdev issue? Or perhaps the xserver...

This is fixed in Fedora, sorry I neglected to mention it here. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=664484

Hey holtzermann17,

Hi, have you had a chance to test if this bug is still present in natty?

If it does (and if you're the original reporter), please boot into natty
and run the command:

  apport-collect <bug-number>

which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting
natty. (It is best to run this right after reproducing the problem.)

Changed in xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu):
