Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

Just as the summary says. msn messenger chat with any contact won't open, although this won't happen to any other accounts (gtalk, facebook).
I double click any contact of msn messenger and it won't open any window, neither by doing right-click and selecting "chat"
Using Ubuntu 10.10 - Maverick Meerkat

Hello,

I have also experienced this issue. Now it's a 100% reproduce on my configuration.

I'm using 10.10 on a MSI WIND U100
Same reproduces as above, window won't open whether i double click, right click> chat or press enter.
Other protocols are going fine.

I've been first testing on the standard repositories. Then added the proposed. No empathy update was in it.
I still updated with the proposed packages. No improvements, the issue is still here.

Since it's very blocking for me, i will be using some other IM for the time being.

which version of empathy do you use? I am not able to reproduce this issue here with 2.32.1 release under Ubuntu Maverick.

I'm currently using 2.32.1 on maverick too.

uname -a returns:
Linux msiwind-ubu1010 2.6.35.24-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 01:41:57 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

further information:

on double click there's absolutely nothing that happens, but when I press Return on the contact the Contact List window loses focus. It was barely noticeable because of the GTK theme I previously used, since then I had changed the default radiance theme, i've noticed this only now.

peeweek. thanks for the bug report. Could you please attach your telepathy butterfly logs to this bug report. you can get those logs from Help>Debug and by selecting butterfly in the drop down menu click on the save button. (these logs should be of the time when you try to double click on the contact to start a conversation and its preferred if you first clear those logs and perform the steps to create the issue).
