color levels not reported for HP PSC 1300 series

I am running Ubuntu 10.10, last update less then a week ago, printer HP PSC 1350z, an all-in-one color printer. I am able to view the page for ink levels in the printer properties, but the drivers claim "ink levels are not reported by this printer", even though it does on Windows. Back when I thought HP was entirely responsible for HPLIP, I assumed they were discriminating against Linux users, as most software/hardware companies seem to do. Then I realised you were responsible, and knew a bug report would not go ignored.
