Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

This week my laptop stopped detecting the right resolution on an external projector.

Wednesday Nov 3d I was still able to use the full resolution (1280×1024) of the Epson EB-S6 projector. Today the max resolution is 1360×768, which is displayed distorted. The only other resolution available is 1024×768.

Between these two sessions I did not do anything with my computer besides normal browsing and OO.o work. The log of updates is attached.

Ubuntu 10.10 fully updated
HP NX7400
Let me add how grateful I am when this tricky area "just works", which it did with Maverick, and how distressed when 25+ Windows users only see Ubuntu in a crammed, pixelized frame. Thank you for your work.

Well, today I cannot reproduce my problem anymore.
I am dealing with a pool of six seemingly identical projectors (all EB-S6 model) but perhaps one of them causes the problem.
Please bear with me while I get my hand on each of the projectors and test them.

After much effort and searching it turns out the video cable, not the projector, was the source for the problem. (Groan).
Windows XP only manages 800×600 with that cable so I don’t think it’s a Ubuntu bug that I can only achieve 1024×768.

All my apologies for the disturbance. Closing as invalid and deleting attachments for privacy reasons.
