gxine problems with locales

When you start gxine 0.4.1-1 (which is includes in Hoary/Universe) you get the following errors on the command line:
(gxine:16370): Gtk-WARNING **: Invalid input string

A lot of people with a german charset an german locales discuss this error - so it seems this problem is part of the gxine-version which is shipped with Hoary.

With never version of gxine this bug seems to be fixed.

So why, if this is a well known bug, nobody has updated or patched the resent gxine-version in Hoary? We hope this bug will be fixed soon, because a lot of people use gxine.

I've uploaded gxine 0.4.4 to breezy, please test the package and check if the bug persists.

Hi Jorge,

i downloaded the sources of gxine 0.4.4 and compiled a deb-package with checkinstall. With this version the bug was away. I´m going to test now the uploaded new package.

Hi,

I tested the package from Breezy - and it works. It seems the bug has been eliminated in gxine version 0.4.4. :-)
The installation under Hoary was only possible with a dpkg --force-depends , but who wonders, this package was build with another version of libc.

One thing more:
After playing a divx-movie I got the following output on the command line:

[mpeg4 @ 0xb67ef998]looks like this file was encoded with (divx4/(old)xvid/opend ivx) -> forcing low_delay flag

Maybe it helps to optimize the package.

So lets hope the community will be able to update the gxine-version in Hoary to a bugfree package soon....
