Window Borders Display Issue in Maverick

Ubuntu 10.10.

I find that when a pop-up window (e.g. the preferences window of an application) is displayed over the application window, with the window borders of the pop-up overlapping the app's, a lighter shade of the theme appears around the edge of the pop-up window. I suspect that what I said might sound vague; in that case, please see the attached screenshots.

To reproduce bug:

It may not be reproducible with the first try. Open Nautilus' prefs window. Drag it to the top of the screen with app. window maximised and close it (if the "effect" doesn't show up). Open it and drag it to the top again.

I have seen this happen with both Ambiance and Radiance.

Just to add it does not need to be a pop-up. I dragged the terminal window over Firefox and the same thing happens.

And in my initial report, I meant to a darker shade, rather than lighter. Sorry.

Have you tried to reproduce it with another themes or with compiz unabled?

Ah. With Visual Effects turned off, I don't see this happening. (Just a big shadow of the active window on the background window.) As for themes: I've seen this happen with Ambaince, Radiance (as already mentioned) and New Wave.

not a bug in light-themes, I guess compiz.
