Bug Description
Binary package hint: eclipse
Eclipse from most recent edgy, consumes enormmous amount of memory, using gcj. After very short time of using it, it starts swapping, and "memory progress bar" shows about 200mb usage.
but when I install j2re1.4 and set JAVA_HOME to /usr/lib/j2se/1.4, it works perfectly, fast, and doesn't take more than 64mb.
So I suggest to set j2re1.4 as alternative to gcj.

you can use any vm, setting JAVA_HOME to an alternative jvm, i.e. /usr/lib/ jvm/java- 1.5.0-sun
