Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

I've tested xdm (about to try lxdm), and have been able to log in. startx works fine. The problem is somewhere in gdm. noapci/noacpi SEEMED to work, until a reboot. This second time it was back to the same old nonsense. Can't log in, keyboard and mouse don't respond, can't crtl+alt+f1, can't sysrq... NOTHING.

I can't find anything useful to solve the problem it's very frustrating.

running on maverick (10.10) 32bit.
I think the old ati graphics have something to do with it, but it's unlikely, since it was working before on a previous installation.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.
