Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

Hi

Ubuntu 10.10
Ubuntu Software Center 3.0.5

What happened:
The software center doesn't rearrange categories after window resize, this causes the user to have to horizontally scroll.

What should happen:
The software center should always rearrange the categories after window resize so that the user doesn't have to horizontally scroll.

To repeat error follow these steps:
Start up Ubuntu Software Center in unmaximised mode. Notice that there is no horizontal scrolling needed to see the categories.
Then maximise the window. Notice that the categories then, correctly, move to fill the width of the screen.
Now unmaximise the window. Notice that the categories don't rearrange themselves meaning that the user has to horizontally scroll to see all the catagories.

To then fix this you have to restart the Ubuntu Software Center.

Note that this bug is reproducible every single time.

I have attached a video of this error.

Hope someone can fix this.

Andy

Sorry found a change in how you have to recreate the effect.

1. Start up Ubuntu Software Center in unmaximised mode.
2. Resize the Ubuntu Software Center by dragging the window to only make it a little smaller (don't maximise yet).
3. Then maximise the window.
4. Now unmaximise the window.

Notice that the categories don't rearrange themselves meaning that the user has to horizontally scroll to see all the categories.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

I have tried that, and I can reproduce this with software center 3.0.5 on maverick using the steps described by Andrew, therefor set to confirmed.

Hi Andrew and Robert. This one has been fixed in recent releases of Software Center in natty (I verified the fix with version 3.1.15).

Thanks and please continue to report any other bugs or issues that you may encounter.
