xchat not using default browser when opening URL

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat

When ctrl-click or right click > Open in broswer on URL's, gedit is used instead of the default broswer (chromium-browser and firefox have same results)

tried xdg-open http://www/google/com/ and same result, gedit was used to open link. Same with gnome-open http://www.google.com/

Looks like xchat just shells out to xdg-open, which calls gnome-open, so this is caused by bug 670128.
