Bug Description

I had 10.04 64-bit running fine on my machine for a couple months. 10.10 came out and I decided to upgrade to the 64-bit version. When I restarted my computer after the installation, I got stuck at a black screen with a blinking white cursor. I tried reinstalling with a usb stick, had the same problem. Is it a graphics driver issue perhaps? I'm running at ATI Radeon 5750. Also note that I had this problem when I installed 10.04 for the first time as well. The way I fixed it then was by running some terminal commands in the live CD boot. I tried doing that, but found I couldn't even load my live CD anymore. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Hey there, I had a similar problem.

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition in a partition on a Acer Aspire. I did this using a USB. After install I reset the BIOS boot queue to its original settings. Every time I boot the netbook with any mass storage device plugged in to USB (flashdrive, ipod, 'phone) I get the black screen with cursor (it boots ok with a mouse). If I pull out USB devices, it begins to boot as normal.
