Bug Description

Reporting here as this is where the bug report link took me.
Immediate segmentation fault when trying to invoke:

:~$ Xephyr :5
Segmentation fault
:~$

if I try to specify screen geometry, I get an fpe instead.

:~$ Xephyr -screen 1024x768 :5
Floating point exception
:~$

In both cases the window does display for a split second before the crash. I can make it stay put a moment if I invoke in gdb, but since the executable was stripped, I can't provide anything more.

Edit: The process creates the lock file under /tmp before it dies

I can confirm that the patch
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=7149) works here (kubuntu-6.10,
amd64).
But stdint.h is only C99 so this might not be a very portable fix.

Added the upstream bug number to this BR.
There's a patch on the Freedesktop Bugzilla, but I haven't tested it (yet).

It's not clear to me whether it's actually been applied upstream...

Has a patch been put in GIT to fix this?
Gentoo downstream is looking for an "official" patch before inclusion.

it's in the master branch:

I'm having the same floating point exception detailed in this bug report. Looks like the upstream maintainers have within the past week applied a fix to their master branch. Details are at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8417

William: do you still have the problem with Feisty? It should have the patch that debian/fedora has.

I see the named bug is still in xorg-server-1.3 even after thought that patch has been applied to the tree for 1.3.

Any news/updates?
