paste doesn't work from menu or shortcut

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Steps to reproduce:

Select and copy text from some other app.

Open Gnome Terminal.

Try pasting with ctrl + shift + v (nothing happens).

Try pasting with Edit -> Paste (nothing happens).

Try pasting with right click -> Paste (text is pasted).

I'm running the Unity netbook edition.
