Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnucash

I have created a new account so that I can keep better track of my money. I want to create a second account under the "Accounts" tree for two credit cards.

Under the Accounts Tree view, I have a root named "Liabilities". The Node underneath that is for "Credit Card". I have named this first node "Visa". Now, I want to create another one named "American Express". I expect to simply click on the root named "Liabilities", click on the button at the top labeled [New] (the one with the symbol of the bank and a green plus sign on it), and be able to create a second node for my second account.

Instead, Gnucash itself crashes with no warning and promptly. Doing this again causes the program to crash in the exact same way. Even attempting to do this under the menu bar makes the program crash.

I have tried to get the program started under GDB so that I can find out where it crashes. Apparently it is trying to access some variable, but then it simply segfaults. I have included the output of GDB so as to hopefully find out what causes it. I am also including some other information about my system.

SYSTEM INFORMATION
Output of "apt-cache policy gnucash"
gnucash:
  Installed: 2.2.9-6
  Candidate: 2.2.9-6
  Version table:
 *** 2.2.9-6 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/universe i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Build Information (As per "About" credits):
Build r17949M on 2010/08/19

Output of "lsb_release -rd"
Description: Ubuntu 10.10
Release: 10.10

Please inform me if I should try to do anything else to add any more information or new files to help you guys. I really do like this program, but if it keeps crashing when I try to get any work done, I'll simply use something else... :-/
