Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

I don't know if it is possible, but it would be nice to have a way to keep the channels connecter to IRC even when closing them. I'd like them to stay connected on the channel even if the window is not open. Running from the background, and poping a notification if someone says my name.

I don't know if it's already possible, or if that feature was already requested. But I guess it would be nice for those who are connected on a lot of channels or those that wish to stay idle but stay on the channels.

It's particularly useful when peoples connect from a BNC, which let you connected on the IRC server.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.
